TransCore made a major announcement this morning that it has developed a "technology [that] enables motorists who travel across multiple regions to now seamlessly travel on U.S. toll roads using one transponder and one account." Called Nationalpass™, TransCore's service is a response to the federal MAP-21 Act mandate that "highway toll facilities . . . implement technologies or business practices that provide for the interoperability of electronic toll collection by October 1, 2016." TransCore is inviting "individuals most closely involved with the national interoperability initiative -- personnel associated with tolling agencies throughout the U.S. and also members of the United States Congress and their staff," to register for the service now. The company says it will start to offer Nationalpass to the general public in July 2016.
